Migraines and CT Scan

If any of you are following me on Twitter (which you should... I am fascinating!), you have probably heard me bitching about the terrible headache I've had since last Wednesday.

It started around 4:00 and hasn't really stopped since. It was so bad on Wednesday evening that I had to shut myself up in my bedroom with the curtains drawn and go right to bed, because light and any type of movement was making me want to puke.

I was hoping I was pregnant. I'm not.

But I saw my primary care doc on Friday and she thinks it's probably migraines (which would suck), but she wanted to do a CT scan on my brain to make sure there's no bleeding or tumors.

WHAT?!

My doctor said it's pretty common practice to do a CT scan after a patient develops bad headaches , so I have an appointment with Radiology at the Cleveland Clinic this afternoon at 3:00 to get my head scanned. (Omg.)

I was just doing a wee bit of research on head/brain CT scans just for S & Gs, and according to this website I found:

"CT scanning of the head is typically used to detect bleeding caused by a ruptured or leaking aneurysm in a patient with a sudden severe headache."

Again, WHAT?!

I could have a leaking aneurysm! That does NOT sound good. No, no, no.

I've had CT scans in the past. Twice, actually. I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago. (Holy crap, it's been that long?) So I'm not worried about the scan. But I'm terrified about the results!

I'm going to try to get them to give me a copy of my brain scan so I can plop it up on here because I think that would be really cool to have. I could frame it. Unless I have a tumor. Yikes.

When I had my gall bladder removed, I tried to get the surgeons to let me have it so I could keep it in a jar, but they wouldn't let me. I guess because it's like, a bio hazard or something. Feh. I mean, it was MINE. Shouldn't I be allowed to keep it?

So wish me luck this afternoon! I'm pretty nervous. All your happy, well-wishing thought vibes will do me some good, I think. :)

  1. Good luck! I'm sure everything is fine. I started getting migraines about 7 years ago. (I'm 44) They are a huge pain the #*$#@. I'll be thinking about you today!
