Awesome Lampwork Beads!

Do me a favor.
  1. Go to Etsy.com.
  2. Type "lampwork" and your favorite color into the search box.
  3. Hit Search.
  4. Try not to fall off your chair in overwhelming awe.
  5. You should have stumbled upon lots of fantastic, gorgeous glass beads! If you didn't, you must have done something wrong. Try again.

According to Wikipedia:
"Lampworking is a type of glasswork that uses a gas fueled torch to melt rods and tubes of clear and colored glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with a variety of tools and hand movements."

According to xtine:
"Lampwork = really freaking cool glass bead thingies. They are made by magic. And fire."

Check out this Etsy Treasury on food themed lampwork beads:

One seller that I stumbled across in my search for awesome Etsy lampwork is StudioMarcy. Not only does she have some really silly and interesting beads, but her photography is very simple and done really well, which is one of the things that always draws me into a shop.

Here are some of my favorites from StudioMarcy's shop:

Ankle Biter Beads makes hilarious and adorable lampwork bead creatures. She has fish, dogs and cats, farm animals, bugs, and even monsters. I really love her item descriptions, which are insanely descriptive. Plus you can buy beads from her in plain old bead form, or you can upgrade to a pendant or cell phone charm for a tiny extra fee.
Here are some of my favorites:

Crazy Lady Beads is another glass artist that I stumbled upon while doing research for this post. She makes really sweet little cupcake beads and cute little sets of beads that totally just make me feel happy inside. Her shop also has a cool destash section where you can buy extra beads and tools for using with glass.
